Life long dream hunt
3rd hunt for goat... finally

We arrived in Anchorage and stayed an extra night because the weather in the town of Cordova, where we were supposed to fly, was very bad and Sam couldn't pick us up.
We arrived there, and Sam picked us up in the Turbo Beaver plane. We made a one-hour flight, a bit bumpy due to the bad weather, and then we arrived at the central camp.
Cabins with two beds for each hunter, all with heaters and thermostats. Showers, a sauna, a warm bathroom, and a large, very comfortable dining room with Wi-Fi, a cook, and an assistant. We stayed there that night and flew the next day to our first spike camp, where we slept. The next day we hiked 5 hours up the mountain in the rain. We stopped, set up a small camp, and decided to continue climbing to locate the goats that had been seen from the plane the day before. We went up, saw them, and did a long, very tough 4-hour hunt. We arrived, and Jose Luis hunted his goat at 191 yards. A perfect shot and a four-hour descent to the tent. A total of 13.30 hours, tough but very beautiful.
The next day we go down to the first camp. Sam picks us all up and leaves the guide at another spot to set up the next camp so I can try to hunt mine. I return to the main camp, dry my wet clothes, and in the afternoon I take the small plane to the next site.
There the guide and the packer are waiting for me, and we see the goats from below. I get nervous. As soon as the small plane takes off, a large black bear appears about 500 meters away... We sleep, and the next day, sunny and rainless, we climb to where the goats are. Four tough hours, but every meter brings us closer. From 700 meters to 350 meters, I can get a very good first shot, but the goat, being very tough, trots down little by little. I'm able to get two more shots in, both accurate, and finally I have it. It's a tremendous thrill.
That afternoon we return with all the meat, the skin, and the head. Sam picks us up in the small plane just before sunset, and we head to the main camp to celebrate.
The next day is still fine, and we go salmon fishing in the river, an hour away on a quad bike. It's a very fun morning, and everything is beautiful.
